OHSA 10-Hour Safety Training
Program
The OSHA 10-hour safety training is provided by an innovative partnership
with the local unions of Northern California MCA. The Joint Labor Management
Apprentice Training Committee for each local has agreed to provide
certified 10 hour training to all of their new apprentices during
their first
year of employment.
The Northern California MCA Safety Committee researched and developed
an extensive curriculum that has been adopted by all of the Training
Committees. Based primarily
on the Construction Industry Partnership's "Smart Mark" system,
the training covers 14 important topics. This common curriculum provides
all employees
with a dependable level of safety competence.
The 14 topics are:
- Introduction to OSHA & General Duty Clause (SM-C)
- Confined Space (SM-C)
- Hazardous Material Communication (SM-D)
- Personal Protective Equipment (SM-E)
- Fire Safety (SM-F)
- Material Handling (SM-H)
- Tool Safety (SM-I)
- Electrical Safety (SM-K)
- Scaffold Safety (SM-L)
- Fall Protection (SM-M)
- Trenching and Excavation (SM-P)
