NCMCA Kent Morrill Scholarship for 2026-2027 School Year

It is HIGHLY recommended you complete your application prior to the deadline date, after April 1st, no changes/anything missing, will be accepted.

The Northern California Mechanical Contractors Association has established a college scholarship program in 1992 in memory of Kent T. Morrill, who served as president of the association in 1988. Eligibility and application requirements of the Kent T. Morrill Scholarship Program are as follows:

1) The Kent T. Morrill Scholarship program is open to the children of all NON-COLLECTIVE BARGAINING employees whose parent works full time for Northern California MCA or its Contractor members. IF YOUR PARENT IS A MEMBER OF ANY CONSTRUCTION UNION, YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO APPLY FOR THE NCMCA SCHOLARSHIP.

2) The parent of any Kent T. Morrill Scholarship applicant must work in Northern California (Within the boundaries of the NCMCA jurisdiction)

3) Scholarships are awarded by the members of the NorCal MCA Scholarship Committee.

4) No Scholarship Committee member with a relative applying for a scholarship shall be allowed to assess and score their relative’s application. 

5) All applications must be submitted online by the published deadline, and they must be complete.

6) Unofficial Transcripts from the applicants’ school must be submitted/downloaded with this initial application.

7) Scholarships are awarded based on TWO categories: A) cumulative GPA and B) Scholarship Committee review and assessment of applications received by posted deadline. 

8) Late applications will not be scored and awarded scholarship dollars for the application assessment portion of the submittal.

9) All scholarships are awarded in one payment. 

10) Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students only.

11) Students may apply to the Kent T. Morrill Scholarship program a maximum of five times (i.e. five undergraduate academic school years).

12) All applicants must be a full time student enrolled in no less than 12 units every quarter or semester at any accredited college or university in the United States.

13) All applicants may choose any course of study, and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 in their college courses.

14) All recipients must prove with transcripts, official class schedules, or enrollment certifications that they are enrolled in school to receive their scholarship check.
Official Class Schedules for Fall of 2026 will be due by September 14th, 2026. You will upload your Class Schedule through ncmca.smapply.com.  (Be sure to save your password) - you will recieve reminders. 

15) The Scholarship Committee has established two annual special awards/designations to be awarded each school year. The awards will be called the Don Batz Scholarship Memorial Award, and the Bill Bianco Scholarship Memorial Award. The recipients will receive additional scholarship award money to be determined by the Scholarship Committee.

16) The NCMCA Scholarship Committee will Award the Top (3) Essays a special monetary award for content pertaining to the specific question(s) asked.

17) NorCal MCA reserves the right to waive or modify requirements without notice.

APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE AND RECEIVED BY WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 2026.

 Next:

- You will then receive an award letter in late June, the the letter will include an invite to the scholarship dinner - July 9th, 2026 at Scott's Seafood in Oakland, CA.
- Make sure to upload your Fall 2026 Schedule to your Application File by September 14th. 
- Your Award Check will be mailed in late September/Early October.

 Do to the growth of the NCMCA Kent T. Morrill Scholaraship Program, The NCMCA has implemented a NEW application process.

Being the first year of the new process, we might experience a few wrinkles to iron out.
